Interview NetDocuments, Nordic Sponsor at Nordic Legal Tech Day

Oliver Matthews, NetDocuments, Nordic Sponsor Nordic Legal Tech Day

At Nordic Legal Tech Day, Oliver Matthews will share how NetDocuments is blending AI, automation, and secure cloud technology to simplify legal workflows and support real-world legal challenges.

How do you see your platform supporting lawyers and legal teams in their day-to-day challenges?

At NetDocuments, our mission is to help lawyers and legal teams work smarter, not harder. We know that legal professionals face constant pressure to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines, while balancing security, compliance, and client expectations. Our intelligent platform provides a secure, cloud-based document management solution (DMS) that streamlines how knowledge is captured, organised, and shared. By automating routine tasks, enabling seamless collaboration, and providing reliable access to documents from anywhere, we reduce friction in day-to-day workflows so that lawyers can focus on the strategic, high value work that clients rely on.

AI is a major theme across industries. How are you approaching AI within your product, and what impact do you think it will have on the legal profession?

We take a thoughtful and practical approach to AI, rethinking all major functions within our platform. Rather than developing AI for AI’s sake, we embed it across our platform in ways that directly address real-world legal challenges. Our ndMAX Legal AI Assistant, for example, is designed to surface information quickly, summarise content, and accelerate drafting, all within the guardrails of a secure environment that safeguards sensitive data. We see AI as an empowering tool for legal professionals, not a replacement, helping firms increase efficiency, deliver faster client service, and make more informed decisions. AI is embedded so intuitively that it is a natural part of the user experience and how lawyers work. This is why we have also combined document and workflow automation with AI via our App Builder to deliver consistent, meaningful results for each firm, even being triggered in the background by natural engagement with the DMS. Long term, we believe AI will become a largely invisible but indispensable assistant, giving lawyers the freedom to focus on strategy, advocacy, and client relationships.

”We want attendees to leave with a clear understanding that NetDocuments is more than a document management system”.

What role do you think technology plays in making legal services more accessible, efficient, or client-focused?

Technology is a catalyst for modernising the legal profession and driving better client outcomes. Cloud-based platforms like NetDocuments break down barriers to collaboration and ensure that knowledge is available wherever and whenever it’s needed. By digitising and automating routine processes, firms can instead focus on new avenues of business. At the same time, technology makes it easier to deliver consistent, high-quality service, whether that’s through secure client portals, streamlined mundane processes, or tools that reduce turnaround time. Ultimately, technology enhances client trust by ensuring their matters are handled with speed, accuracy, transparency, and security.

What are you most looking forward to at Nordic Legal Tech Day this year?

Nordic Legal Tech Day provides a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with the legal community in the region. For us, it’s about listening and understanding the challenges Nordic firms and corporate legal teams are facing and learning how we can continue to support their digital transformation journeys. It’s also a chance to showcase how our platform and AI capabilities can make a tangible difference in practice today, not just in the future.

Are there any specific topics, trends, or speakers you’re excited to hear about?

We’re especially keen to hear more about how firms in the Nordics are approaching AI adoption and digital transformation in a practical, client-focused way. The region is known for its innovative mindset, and we expect some excellent discussions around how legal professionals are balancing innovation with the need for security and compliance. We also have some fantastic local Partners and Clients in attendance, so it will be great to connect with them.

If attendees take one thing away from visiting your booth or demo, what should it be?

We want attendees to leave with a clear understanding that NetDocuments is more than a document management system. It’s a trusted partner that helps lawyers and legal teams work efficiently, collaborate with confidence, and harness AI responsibly. Most importantly, we want them to know we care about their business. We are not here to tell attendees how to practice law. Our ambition is to provide state-of-the-art technology as a true partner, supporting, adapting, and moulding to your business needs. If they leave with that impression, then we’ve achieved our goal.
