Laura G NLTD 2024

Meet Laura Jeffords Greenberg, Tech Lawyer and one of our speakers at NLTD

Laura! We are thrilled to have you as one of our speakers. What unique insights or experiences do you bring to Nordic Legal Tech Day, and what topics or trends are you excited to discuss with attendees?

I bring a unique perspective to Nordic Legal Tech Day drawn from my dual roles. As an in-house counsel, I am a consumer of legal tech, experiencing firsthand the challenges and benefits of these tools. Additionally, I assist both in-house teams and law firms in leveraging and integrating genAI into their workflows. This dual experience allows me to view and discuss legal tech, particularly genAI tools, from multiple angles, understanding the practical needs and strategic implementations.

I am particularly excited to engage with attendees about the latest trends and advancements in legal tech. Last year, I met many inspiring individuals working on cutting-edge projects, and I am looking forward to discovering what innovations are on the horizon. Each year, I look forward to learning from other attendees about the next developments in our industry.

Can you share a sneak peek of what attendees can expect from your presentation or workshop at the event?

I’m excited to partner with AI experts to answer questions about maximizing your use of AI. We will discuss crowd-sourced technical questions focused on how these systems operate and their practical applications in the legal field. We’ll explore why certain techniques or strategies work or don’t work, and how we can enhance our use of genAI by deepening our understanding of its technological capabilities. By sharing these valuable insights, we aim to provide legal professionals with credible information to better leverage genAI tools.

In your opinion, what sets the Nordic legal tech landscape apart from other regions, and what opportunities or challenges does this present for innovation and collaboration?

As an American who grew up in Silicon Valley, I’m accustomed to a highly competitive tech landscape. What first struck me about the Nordic legal tech scene was the remarkable level of cooperation between companies and countries. This collaboration opens unique opportunities for innovation and growth, which is exciting and, I believe, has led to an expansive startup scene.

Taking a step back and looking at technology at a macro level, I’ve been impressed by how Nordic governments leverage tech compared to U.S. government agencies that still use fax machines. This sophisticated and advanced use of technology by average citizens gives the Nordics a significant advantage. This widespread tech literacy means there is likely a lower barrier to entry for non-technical legal professionals, as they are already accustomed to using technology in their daily lives.

But one of my frustrations is that Europe, as a whole, often receives new tech products and features in the second or third wave of rollouts. While this lag can be frustrating, it also presents unique opportunities. By straddling both America and Europe, I can see how these delays can lead to distinctive innovations and collaborations that might not occur in markets that immediately receive the technology. This unique positioning allows the Nordics to not only catch up but sometimes leapfrog in specific areas, driving unique solutions and fostering a dynamic environment for legal tech innovation.

How do you envision legal technology shaping the future of legal practice in the Nordic countries, and what role do you see events like Nordic Legal Tech Day playing in driving this transformation?

Given the collaborative nature of the Nordics, events like Nordic Legal Tech Day are invaluable in connecting people and ideas. Bringing like-minded individuals together sparks creativity and can lead to exciting solutions.

I envision legal technology shaping the future of legal practice in the Nordic countries by enabling legal professionals to be more creative, innovative, and strategic. Technology should eliminate manual and repetitive tasks, allowing us to focus on the issues and work that truly excite us. Events like Nordic Legal Tech Day play a crucial role in driving this transformation by fostering collaboration, sharing insights, and showcasing the latest advancements in legal tech.

I’m extremely excited to see what we will be discussing in five years and to witness the profound changes in the legal profession. The continuous evolution of legal technology, supported by collaborative events, will undoubtedly lead to a more dynamic and efficient legal landscape in the Nordic countries.

As a speaker at Nordic Legal Tech Day, what message or key takeaway do you hope attendees will walk away with after engaging with your presentation or session?

As a speaker at Nordic Legal Tech Day, I aim to make new technology accessible and inspire attendees to explore new use cases. I hope participants will walk away feeling inspired and equipped with practical knowledge, skills, or habits they can immediately apply. My goal is for everyone to leave with tools or insights that simplify their work, enhance their efficiency, and ultimately make their jobs more enjoyable.

Thank you so much Laura for being a part of NLTD 2024 / NLTD crew
