Tell us how you ended up working with legal tech?
I found myself in a really weird position where I loved being an M&A lawyer working on big deals but also really missed building stuff and being innovative. Ultimately, I met some very smart people in 2014 who convinced me that AI was the future and that we could build smart things. I joined them as a co-founder of an AI company the following year.
If you had to bet on one legal AI use case that will be mainstream within two years, and one that people are overhyping, what would those be?
Most legal tasks, like research, drafting, review, compliance, and internal knowledge management, will be standard AI capabilities for most people as early as next year. In two years, it’s gonna be autonomous agents doing chief-of-staff kinda things, like managing your time and admin. I honestly think most legal tech AI is overhyped and really doesn’t bring anything original to the table, although the marketing suggests otherwise.
